"I have always been an un-knowledgeable skeptic of acupuncture. However, since I do a considerable amount of exercise in order to participate in Ironman Triathlon competitions, I frequently have prolonged aches and pains. My massage therapist suggested that I try acupuncture with Ms. Lohr-Dean. Ms. Lohr-Dean treated me 5 times prior to my most recent Ironman competition. I must say, the results were outstanding. The painful areas were significantly improved if not all together eliminated.
Now, I am un-knowledgeable believer in acupuncture. It works and Ms. Lohr-Dean knows her needles."
New Patient Information and Forms
When you arrive for your first acupuncture appointment you will complete a comprehensive intake form, you may also find it below so you may complete it in advance and bring it with you. The acupuncture intake form asks questions about your current state of health, past illnesses, and family history. These questions are important because the holistic approach of Chinese medicine takes everything into account. Your current symptoms may not seem related to past health issues, but our bodies are complex landscapes and everything that happens to them leaves its mark and has a continued influence.
After reviewing your intake form, we will discuss your condition, and we may examine your pulse and tongue, which are two diagnostic methods of east Asian medicine. The acupuncture points we choose will depend on your condition. Once the needles are inserted, you will lie comfortably, relaxing while allowing the acupuncture to work with your body. Acupuncture and Botanical medicine work in a series of treatments, each building on the next, it is necessary to receive acupuncture close together to allow your body to find it's balance and continue to maintain it.
Many people find acupuncture deeply relaxing, and it is not uncommon for patients to fall asleep during this time.
